Description
Mrs. Bunker selected this bean personally after several weeks of testing so many varieties. It makes a beautifully smooth and flavorful coffee that isn’t bitter but is full bodied and robust.
“I can remember the best cups of coffee I’ve ever had.”
Some people have that ability, where they can almost recreate a spectacular experience in their memory… A steaming hot cup in a cold jungle downpour at a coffee roaster’s hut in Central America. We trudged through the mud to get there. The first cup of real (not instant) coffee at an off-grid family farm near Albany by the Southern Sea in Western Australia. A special cup in a café at Pike Place Market in Seattle. A dessert cup with a cigar while sitting with the owner of a tiny Italian joint in Little Italy in San Francisco. That first ever cup at Café du Monde in New Orleans.
These are the cups that I remember most, and this is what I wanted to evoke in my first Bunker Nation Coffee. We’re starting out small, with a limited supply of personally selected and hand roasted coffees chosen by Michael and his wife Danielle.
“Why is Bunker Nation so much more expensive than, say, the big Veteran’s coffee brand, or some other private label coffees?”
Listen, this isn’t a mass produced coffee manufactured by a huge global company. Nor is it a mass produced coffee private labeled for entrepreneurs who want branded coffee as part of their product line.
I have no problem with those products and I understand why they do what they do. But if you know Michael Bunker, and if you have ever tasted any of his hand made products, you will know that we do not compare apples and oranges. Michael Bunker bacon is made in tiny batches, by hand, in a stone smokehouse built by hand. The bacon is made using ancient techniques and without any modern industrial or commercial equipment. It is made exactly like bacon was made 150 years ago.
Guess what, the Bunker Nation Coffee is the same way.
It is not a mass manufactured Columbian or Costa Rican Coffee just private labeled for an entrepreneur. It is not a mass manufactured product sold only by the “roasting” or “grind” signification. In other words, it just doesn’t say “House Blend” or “Espresso Grind” or “French Roast.” Our beans are hand selected. Chosen by Michael Bunker specifically to fit a taste profile and quality level he demands. It is hand roasted exactly like it was roasted before the modern mass packaging days.
It isn’t just made in small batches. It is made in TINY batches by a guy – not a company.
It is made specifically to Michael Bunker’s specifications, and to the quality level that truly identifies it as ARTISAN – a word that seems to have lost its meaning when it became an advertising slogan.
If you’ve ever tried Bunker Bacon, Bunker Mesquite Coffee, or any other Michael Bunker products, you already know.
It is more expensive, but that’s just the way it is.
It’s expensive to make coffee like this and ship it to you!
