Beulah the Cow

Hello from the Ranch

We are doing well and things are getting back to normal here after a wonderful Spring '08 Ranchfest. We had a wonderful time fellowshipping with everybody.

We just recently bought a Holstein heifer cow and dad named her Beulah. She is a big cow and very friendly. We are not used to having a cow with such short horns. When she arrived here, Sarah asked why she didn't have any horns. We said she did, but they are only about 4 inches long. The lady that sold her to us said Beulah is probably about 600 pounds. She was born in November and she already dwarfs 2 year old Pita, the longhorn/watusi mix heifer.

Mr Peck, diatomacious earth is a white powder like substance that is made of the microscopic crushed-up bodies of shelled sea animals that have died. It is spread on the ground or plant and it kills insects with exoskeletons. It cuts the waxy outside if the bug and the bug dries out. We use it on our gardens for ants and worms. Tracy also used it to deworm Guinness, the female black lop rabbit.

Speaking of, we had another litter of kits the other day out of Santa Clara. There are three and they are doing great.
