Rabbits and Canning
Hello,
One day ( Lord Willin' that is) that will read "Canning Rabbits"
Tracy's female rabbit, Monica, gave birth to one stillborn kit on Saturday, but otherwise the mating in early October was unsuccessful. Tracy rebred them again today. Hopefully this time we will be blessed with a litter of two.
The Shopping Baskit had a ten pound box of bacon on sale for ten dollars, so we have been canning bacon as well as the meat from Louella the pig. Lots of canning! Mom has also been rendering and canning lard for soap, candles, and food purposes. We are still getting peppers and tomatoes and okra from our garden. But because of the lack of rain, no sprouts of the fall garden are showing.
We are still milking Holga, and are getting about a half a quart a day.
